We are now also taking bookings for adult ADHD Assessments!
After administering the ADHD assessment, the assessing Psychologist will put all of the information obtained into a comprehensive report on all findings from the assessment. This can take up to 12 weeks for the report to be received. However, diagnosis letters, where applicable, can be provided soon after the assessment.
Please note that all assessment reports from Autism Canberra Psychology Centre are suitable for use with NDIS and / or Centrelink applications, as the completed ADHD assessment report and any subsequent diagnoses will be confirmed and signed off by our lead Clinical Psychologist, Jenny Lewis.
Please contact our reception team on 02 5110 9949 or email reception@autismcanberra.com.au to further discuss our fees, suitability and availability for booking an Adult ADHD Assessment.
We currently have availability for ASD Assessments for adults!
This assessment determines whether the adult meets the diagnostic criteria for an ASD diagnosis. It consists of two phases: (1) obtaining background information about the adult when they were a child, from their parents/carers during the developmental period (0-17 years, approx.), via a diagnostic interview; and (2) the adult then undertakes another diagnostic assessment. We use the Gold Standard diagnostic tools to assess for ASD.

Please note, if an adult client wishes to undertake an ASD assessment and does not have access to someone who knew them as a child (0-17 years, approx.), then it is possible that the ASD assessment may not be able to proceed. This will also be the case with any other reputable professional who assesses for adult ASD.

This is an assessment to determine if your child meets criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Intellectual disability and intellectual impairment is also assessed as it forms part of the DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria for ASD. The assessing psychologist must also make comment in the ASD report whether the child exhibits a language impairment. This too forms part of the diagnostic criteria for ASD.

The Griffiths III. assists in the assessment and diagnosis of Global Developmental Disorder (GDD). GDD can only be assessed and diagnosed in children under 6 years of age. GDD is characterised by delays in speech/language and/or motor skills (fine and/or gross). Children diagnosed with GDD are potentially eligible for NDIS funding for services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychology and so forth. Our clinical psychologist is accredited to use the Griffiths III. To find out more information or to book a Griffiths assessment please contact our reception team on 5110 9949.
The short answer is no. It is noted that we are not an NDIS expert and any information about the NDIS should be obtained directly from the NDIS. You can contact the NDIS on 1800 800 110.
Generally, Medicare do not offer rebates for assessment services. This includes the phone consult that clients initially have with the clinical psychologist. Only therapy tends to be rebatable. Please discuss with your psychiatrist or child's paediatrician.
